Walnut Assoian, Paw.D. (Dogtorate)

Hi! I am Walnut, one of the Dogtors at Ally Psychological Services. I am still a puppy, so I don’t have years of experience (yet!) like the therapists here, but I work really hard to be as helpful as possible to all of the clients here, big or small.

I met my dad, Dr. Adam, when I was 3.5 months old and living with my foster family after being rescued from a high-kill shelter in Mississippi (shout out to TLC Rescue for saving me). From the minute we met, I knew he would be my new dad, and we instantly became best buds! He keeps calling me his son, but I am a mix of Chocolate Lab and Husky, and he’s a human…so I don’t know what he’s talking about, but I am just rolling with it because he gives me all of the snacks and toys.

I know starting therapy can be scary, so I am here to greet you in the waiting room, say “hi” in the hallway, get all of the scratches, and try to make you smile. Sometimes, I get a little too excited and give a lot of kisses, but I listen pretty well if you tell me to stop.

  • Welcome you with a wagging tail
  • Will bring you a ball for you to throw
  • Sit on the couch with you while you’re in session with my dad, Dr. Adam
  • Give lots of support when you’re having a hard day

I am still pretty young but have been working really hard to learn new things. So far I know how to sit, lay down, and come back to my dad when I hear him call for me. But my biggest skill has been to give you lots of love when you’re in session talking about some tough stuff.

When I am not at work, I love to run around and trick my dad into letting me out to pee when really, I just want to go chew on a stick and lay in the grass. I also really enjoy napping and cuddling when I get home from work. Also…

  • My favorite game is tug
  • I am allergic to chicken
  • I’ve been told that I am a “very good boy” by a lot of people
  • I love playing with other dogs (humans too!)
