You are not the only one

Addiction affects the entire family.

You may be trying to help while wondering whether your help is actually making things worse. You may feel angry, afraid, guilty or exhausted—or all four at once. You may be carrying responsibilities that were never supposed to be yours.

This group gives you a place to step out of crisis-management mode, better understand what is happening and make more thoughtful decisions about your own well-being.

This group may be right for you if…

You are a spouse or partner

You are trying to maintain a relationship while addictive behavior affects trust, communication, finances or stability.

You are a parent or adult child

You feel responsible for keeping someone safe and are unsure where support ends and taking responsibility for someone else begins.

You are a sibling or other close family member

You are caught between concern, frustration and competing expectations within the family.

You are exhausted from managing the crisis

Your loved one’s behavior has begun shaping your mood, choices, relationships or daily life.

This group is for adults affected by someone else’s substance use or addictive behavior. It is not a recovery group or treatment program for the person actively struggling with addiction.

Support with a purpose

More than a place to vent.

Each meeting combines facilitated discussion, practical education and realistic skills that members can use outside the group.

  1. 01

Understanding addiction and its effects on families

Explore how substance use and addictive behavior can affect family roles, communication and decision-making.

  2. 02

    Supporting without taking over

Examine the difference between compassionate support and protecting someone from the consequences of their choices.

  3. 03

    Creating and maintaining boundaries

Develop boundaries that are specific, realistic and based on what you can control.

  4. 04

    Communicating during conflict

Practice communicating clearly without getting pulled into repeated threats, arguments or unproductive cycles.

  5. 05

    Managing fear, anger and guilt

Build strategies for tolerating uncertainty and responding more intentionally to difficult emotions.

  6. 06

    Protecting your own well-being

Create a sustainable plan for support, self-care and next steps after the group ends.

A small, consistent group.

The same eight participants meet each week, allowing trust and connection to develop over time. Brittany guides each meeting while leaving room for members to discuss what is happening in their own lives.

Closed group

Enrollment closes when the cohort begins, and new participants are not added partway through the series.

Professionally facilitated

The group is led by a licensed counselor with advanced alcohol and drug counseling credentials and experience working with people and families affected by addiction.

Practical and supportive

Meetings combine education, skills and genuine conversation. This is not a lecture, a 12-step meeting or treatment for the participating member’s loved one.

Ally Psych protects its own clinical and administrative records. Because this is a group setting, Ally Psych cannot guarantee the behavior of other participants. Group members will be asked to agree to protect one another’s privacy.
